关于我们
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, founded on September 11, 1953, by Doris Efird and 15 other women who were looking for a support system. These women were all actively employed in the construction industry and had been doing business with each other for years when they decided to finally meet face to face. This progressive group of women had the foresight to create an atmosphere where they could network and support each other professionally as well as personally. This support system gave them the confidence to reach for and achieve their goals. Since its founding, NAWIC, an international non-profit organization, has grown to a membership of 5,500 women with more than 160 chapters. In more than 50 years of service to its members, NAWIC has advanced the causes of all women in construction whose careers range from business ownership to the skilled trades. With almost 900,000 women working in construction today, the industry is becoming more accepting of their non-traditional roles. NAWIC provides education, networking, legislative awareness, industry and community involvement, personal growth and development and lasting friendships. NAWIC is the voice of women in construction.

WIC WEEK Event #6 March 8th, 2025 Ames Construction sponsored this event. What an incredible evening to wrap up WIC Week. We socialized as we enjoyed Hruska's-the best kolaches in Utah! We started the morning with a stretch and flex lead by Arika Morris and Bethany Powers. Followed by an inspiration by Jennifer Montague. We learned more about and established the nominating committee lead by liaison Kathy Bonnett, thanks to Arika Morris and Tricia Reich for volunteering. We drew the winners for a basket a day giveaway! All members that attended each event got entered into the drawings! Winners were Amy Allred, Kathy Williams, Tonya Timothy, Tracy Nation, Arika Morris, Tiffany Dazley. Marian Alvarado won the grand prize, an air fryer donated by Industrial Supply. WIC Week committee received custom NAWIC SLC bags donated by Seacoast Uniforms. The week was wrapped up by SLC President Tonya Timothy giving a recap of the week, thanking sponsors, offering some exciting statistics and a brief speech. Stay tuned for some of the quotes and thoughts she shared.

WIC WEEK Event #5 March 7th, 2025 Okland Construction sponsored this event! We enjoyed lunch and then were able to witness an incredible moment as Carlyn Chester recognized one of their employees, Jennifer. She is on the flagging team and just got certified as a rigger. Carlyn bragged her up recognizing all her drive and work ethic and then told us all that she was just accepted into the military. She then recognized her mom, who was in attendance and also works at Okland. It was an emotional and special mother-daughter moment, and it was an honor for us to witness and celebrate with them. We then dove into an interactive workshop taught by Catherine Alonzo. Catherine is an Entrepreneur, Consultant, Speaker and Podcast Host. She taught us about different types of values; Core, Base and Aspirational and then did a demonstration on discovering and identifying values using one of our members, Stephanie Groll, CSP who volunteered. It was so fun to see the interaction and to learn more about Stephanie. We then broke into several small groups and worked through Catherine’s workbook. As President I was in the back of house and had the vantage point of observing the groups. This was my favorite part of the entire week. It was so incredible to watch 80 or so women working in small groups interacting, getting to know each other and learning together. Special thanks to Emily Terrell and Carlyn Chester at Okland for this event. Shout out to Industrial Supply who gave us all some swag and donated a raffle item. ? #wicweek #wicweek25 #womeninconstructionweek2025 #empoweredwomenempowerothers #NAWIC90 #NAWICSLC #pswnawic

WIC WEEK Event #4 March 6th, 2025 CCI Mechanical, Inc. sponsored this event! We enjoyed lunch and had the amazing opportunity to tour both their sheet metal and pipe fabrication shops. Our tour guides Beau, Chad, Cody, Dan and Russell were the best. They explained the process of how raw material is received, machines are programed, material is fabricated and the logistics of shipping finished product to job-sites for install. We learned about the implementation of VDC, shop safety, tool distribution to jobs sites and got up close with bending machines, riveters, shear machines and learned about different types of welding, braising, duct work, fittings, flanges and more! They win the prize for the cleanest and most organized shop ever. #wicweek #wicweek25 #womeninconstructionweek2025 #empoweredwomenempowerothers #NAWIC90 #NAWICSLC #pswnawic
