I am livid! I just got off the phone with an incredible woman in construction and what she shared has me seeing red. She recently discovered she’s being paid less than her male co-workers. These co-workers are in less senior positions. When she raised this with her boss, his response? "You still lack the skills." Excuse me, what?! If she’s “lacking skills,” why was she promoted to a senior management role? The logic (or lack thereof) is mind-blowing. This isn’t just unfair - it’s downright unacceptable. And sadly, this isn’t an isolated case. I’ve experienced it myself - being paid less than a male counterpart despite being more senior. It’s a slap in the face, not just to her or me, but to every woman who works hard, earns her spot, and still gets undervalued. To that woman: I see you, I know your worth and I have no doubt you’ll be snatched up by someone who does see it. But to everyone else? Do better. Be better. This is 2024! Pay Her Properly! We have to call this out when we see it.
