Recently, over 20 local women in construction visited the Micron expansion project in Boise, Idaho! Micron kicked off the event by sharing about the project in the office. It was an incredible opportunity to learn about the scale, complexity, and collaboration needed to build a leading-edge memory manufacturing fab and numerous support buildings. ? The tour highlighted the methods and technology being used on site, including an AI-driven robotic dog that, when equipped with specialized cameras, walks itself across the site to create a 3D-rendering of the build?. This futuristic approach allows an accurate measure of the progress and quality of the build. We also spoke with the project leaders about the unique challenges and solutions that come with a project of this size. It was a great experience to learn about the construction process of Micron’s expansion project firsthand. Happy Women in Construction Week!

?? Spotlight on Holly Hawkins for National Association of Women in Construction Week!? ?? Holly, an Associate Project Manager in our Boise office, took a unique path to construction. Initially pursuing a career in special education, she discovered a passion for construction management after exploring new opportunities. Her role at VECA has only strengthened that passion, inspiring her to take on bigger challenges, continuously learn, and advocate for a more inclusive construction industry.? ?? ?? Holly’s advice for women considering a career in construction:? "Challenge stereotypes and show that women can excel in a field traditionally dominated by men. I’m passionate about proving that construction is a career where women can thrive, lead, and make a lasting impact."? ? ?? Fun fact: Holly has five dogs—three of which are deaf from birth! Kora, Nola, and Frankie, her Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs, communicate through hand signals and always keep a close watch on her. Rounding out her pack are Montana (Chihuahua) and Dakota (Whippet mix).? ?? Thank you, Holly, for your leadership and dedication!
