As the year comes to a close, I’m reflecting on the impact of our Coffee & Convo series and the incredible journey it has been—both professionally and personally. Hosting these events as NAWIC Baltimore Chapter #135 Chapter President has been so much more than just a leadership role; it’s been a masterclass in growth. From expanding my network with authentic, meaningful relationships to sharpening my public speaking and event development skills, these moments have been pivotal. And through the collective effort of showing up with intention and purpose, we've grown our chapter to the largest and strongest in the NAWIC Northeast region—a milestone I’m incredibly proud of. This experience has solidified something I hold close: there is immense power in aligning yourself with your purpose, showing up as your most authentic self, and being deliberate about where you invest your energy. The annual NEF Block Kids event at Kennedy Krieger, organized by NAWIC and Whiting-Turner, brought together the community to inspire the next generation in exploring construction careers. Hatzel & Buehler, Inc., led by Daniel Urie Sr. CHST, showcased an interactive table where children could engage with different wire sizes, fuses, and safety gear like gloves, hard hats, and heavy coats. The hands-on experience included pushing buttons, pulling levers, and hearing sirens go off, creating a fun and educational environment. Volunteers like Jordan Sauter and Christel York played a vital role in making this event impactful and memorable for the kids. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible volunteers, organizers, and everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make our Block Kids Event at Kennedy Krieger School a resounding success! On Friday, November 1st, we welcomed over 30 passionate volunteers who helped introduce young students to the exciting world of construction through hands-on activities in the trades and a block building competition. The enthusiasm was immediately contagious, as students, staff, and teachers eagerly welcomed our volunteers to "their favorite day of the year" - Block Kids Day! Each year our volunteers play a vital role in introducing these potential future builders, showing them the possibilities that lie ahead in construction. From offering encouraging words to sparking creativity, these relationships truly make a difference. Special thanks to Kennedy Krieger School for hosting us and to everyone involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of this memorable event.
