[Milestone Moment: 2003] The Birth of the NAWBO Institute (2003) In 2003, NAWBO took a bold step to deepen our impact by launching the NAWBO Institute for Entrepreneurial Development—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing women entrepreneurs through education, connection, and support. Since then, the Institute has become a game-changer. It’s the engine behind transformative programs like: ? The Circle—for $1M+ women business owners ready to grow even bigger. ? WBE and MWBE Certifications—to open more doors and drive visibility. ? A powerful online platform—built to support women at every stage of business, from startup to legacy. What started in 2003 as a vision to uplift and educate has become a thriving hub where women-owned businesses of all industries, sizes, and backgrounds come to grow—with purpose. Learn more about the NAWBO Institute: https://bit.ly/3DirQUI We also welcome you to join us at our upcoming 50th celebration in D.C.: https://bit.ly/NAWBOWBC50 Here’s to what we’ve built—and what’s next.

NAWBO in the News: Advocating for Tax Fairness Our NAWBO Chair, Dr. Janis Shinkawa, is bringing national attention to an important issue impacting beauty salons and barbershops. While restaurants have benefited from a tax credit on employee tips for decades, salons—where workers also rely on tips—have been left out. With 75% of salons owned by women, this inequity has placed an undue burden on small business owners and their employees. Now, with bipartisan momentum in Congress, there is a real opportunity to level the playing field. NAWBO remains committed to advocating for policies that strengthen and empower women entrepreneurs nationwide. We welcome you to learn more about the work we're doing. There are many ways to get involved. Also, an invite to our 50th Celebration this June: https://bit.ly/NAWBOWBC50 #NAWBO #Advocacy #WomenBusinessOwners Janis Shinkawa, DVM, CPA (HI) Jen Earle
