Cheers to 36 Years of Empowering Women Business Owners and Entrepreneurs! This month, we’re celebrating the 36th anniversary of the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC)! Established by H.R. 5050, the Women’s Business Ownership Act, this landmark legislation was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in 1988 and changed the game for women business owners across the country. Thanks to H.R. 5050, women could finally access loans without a male co-signer, vital business education and support became accessible through the Women’s Business Center (WBC) program, and data collection finally recognized women-owned businesses. NWBC is proud to continue its work, advocating for policies that break down barriers and open doors for the next generation of women entrepreneurs.
