More on-time #NAVSEAnews out of the Mid-Atlantic! ? Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) showcased its critical role in naval readiness, after providing maintenance support to the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group (CSG), enabling their on-time departure for Type Training. ? While supporting the Gerald R. Ford CSG, MARMC simultaneously supported several other ships, ultimately readying 10 warships to depart on-schedule, fully mission capable. This news follows Norfolk Naval Shipyard’s recent on-time completion of USS George H.W. Bush. ? Bush (CVN 77) successfully completed sea trials off the coast of Virginia this weekend, marking the successful on-time conclusion of its ten-month Planned Incremental Availability at Norfolk Naval Shipyard (NNSY). The timely return of George H.W. Bush to the fleet provides advanced systems and capabilities into the hands of our warfighters and demonstrates how the nation’s public shipyards are meeting the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations' objective of putting more ready players—combat-ready platforms—on the field. The ceremony featuring guest speaker Brigadier General Tamara L. Last week, US Navy leaders participated in a groundbreaking ceremony hosted by Austal USA for their newest Module Manufacturing Facility for submarine components. The new building will provide 369,600 square feet of indoor space purpose-built to manufacture components for Virginia and Columbia-class submarines. Vice Adm. Scott Pappano, principal military deputy to the assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition, and Mr. Matt Sermon, executive director for program executive office for strategic submarines, gave remarks among industry partners and local and regional government leadership, sharing their excitement about the collaboration and the collective effort to achieve the goals of the project. Sermon emphasized the strategic imperative of partnering with industry and stakeholders to strengthen the nation’s shipbuilding capacity and reflected on the critical importance of the region.
