Naval Support Activity South Potomac (NSASP) is the installation command responsible for the safety, security, quality of life, public works, environmental compliance and community affairs of Naval Support Facility (NSF) Dahlgren, Va. and NSF Indian Head, Md. NSASP provides innovative shoreline support to some of the most critical operational, training, research, development, testing and manufacturing organizations of the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense (DoD). A component of Naval District Washington (NDW) and Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC), NSASP has set the standard for shoreline excellence since 2005.

Members of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Mobile Unit 12 Detachment Dahlgren brought their specialized vehicle and "really cool" robots to a Touch-A-Truck outreach event April 10 at Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary School in Newburg, Md. Children from Pre-K through 5th grade participated; the EOD techs were joined by members of local and state law enforcement, conservation officers, utilities workers and more. Thank you to EODMU12 and the staff of Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary for a wonderful morning! Volunteers at NSF Indian Head cleaned the installation shoreline during three separate beach clean up events April 4-6. The Marines and Sailors of Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) led the way with a cleanup on April 4; civilian volunteers, including from Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division hit the beach for the next two days. A total of 54 volunteers collected more than 1,000 pounds of trash along the Potomac River and Mattawoman Creek. Bravo Zulu to the volunteers and to the NSF Indian Head Environmental Department for organizing the events.
