关于我们
The Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP), or Naval Reactors, is a joint Department of Navy and Department of Energy organization responsible for all matters pertaining to U.S. Navy nuclear propulsion. The NNPP’s conservative design practices and stringent operating procedures have resulted in the demonstrated safety record of naval nuclear propulsion plants. The mission of the Naval Reactors, is to provide militarily effective nuclear propulsion plants and ensure their safe, reliable, and long-lived operation. This mission requires the combination of fully trained U.S. Navy men and women with ships that excel in endurance, stealth, speed, and independence from logistics supply chains. Naval Reactors organic statute, 50 U.S.C. §§ 2406, 2511, codifying Presidential Executive Order 12344 set forth the total responsibility of Naval Reactors for all aspects of the Navy's nuclear propulsion, including research, design, construction, testing, operation, maintenance, and ultimate disposition of naval nuclear propulsion plants. The Program's responsibility includes all related facilities, radiological controls, environmental safety, and health matters, as well as selection, training, and assignment of personnel. All of this work is accomplished by a lean network of dedicated research laboratories, nuclear-capable shipyards, equipment contractors and suppliers, and training facilities that are centrally controlled by a small headquarters staff.

#maintenancematters Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility hosted Tom Mancinelli, Acting Under Secretary of the Navy, and staff members for presentations and a tour of the shipyard. Throughout his visit, Mancinelli reinforced the important role the shipyard plays in maintaining the #nuclearfleet, ensuring the U.S. Navy is capable of meeting global and strategic challenges. PSNS & IMF is the largest public shipyard, with more than 15,000 employees, and is the only shipyard capable of servicing Nimitz-class carriers on the West Coast. #teamnavalreactors | #peoplegetthingsdone

The Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Hampton (SSN 767) arrived at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for a scheduled maintenance period last week. While at the shipyard, Hampton will undergo essential repairs and system upgrades critical to extending a submarine’s service life, and ensuring the Navy’s long-term fleet readiness. As one of America’s leader for attack submarine maintenance, repair, and modernization, the shipyard is enhancing critical warfighting capabilities by safely delivering first time quality service, on-budget, on time to the fleet and helping enable warfighters to be battle-ready when called upon. #maintenancematters | #nuclearfleet | #technicalexcellence

The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) returned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan as the United States’ only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, Nov. 22. “A U.S. carrier represents the most advanced maritime capability we have, and it's the most advanced investment we can make in the security of Japan and of the Western Pacific,” said Vice Adm. Fred Kacher, Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet. “The George Washington returns with modernized, cutting-edge technology that represents our investment in deterrence and security in this region.” This marks the second time George Washington has served as the forward-deployed naval forces-Japan (FDNF-J) aircraft carrier. In 2008, it became the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to be forward-deployed to Japan before being relieved by USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) in 2015. #unmatchedpropulsion | #nuclearfleet | #alliesandpartners Read more here: https://lnkd.in/es4WDHUT

"The 1958 Mutual Defense Agreement is a cornerstone of our collective security, underscoring the profound trust and collaboration between the United States and the United Kingdom. Over the past 65 years, our partnership with the UK, our shipbuilders and our suppliers, has not only strengthened our undersea capabilities but has also ensured the safety and stability of our nations in an increasingly complex global environment. Together, we uphold the principles of freedom and security, and our shared commitment to safe and effective naval nuclear propulsion remains a testament to the enduring bond between our navies." - Adm.
