Emerging cloud-centric networks connect edge clouds to large-scale datacenters, balancing complex demands for high availability, isolation, fault tolerance, security, and energy efficiency. In this landscape, Live Migration (LiMi) plays a critical role by enabling seamless application mobility across the edge-to-cloud continuum while maintaining these requirements. Our paper provides: ? A comprehensive survey of recent advancements democratizing LiMi for a wide range of scenarios and network environments, covering both virtual machines (VMs) and containers. ? An analysis of LiMi’s technical underpinnings and optimization techniques. ? A taxonomy of traffic redirection methods synthesized from existing literature to tackle connection handover challenges. ? ?? Wrapping up 2024 highlights!?? As a PhD student, this year has been a transformative journey for me to filled with incredible accomplishments and growth. My highlights glimpse are: ?? Publications: 6 journal publications in top journals, with 2 as first author, including Computer Networks, IEEE ACCESS, Journal of Optical Communications and Networking (JOCN), and Future Internet. ?? Conferences: Contributed my research at 5 prestigious conferences: OFC, ECOC, IEEE HPSR, IEEE CSCN 2024, and IEEE GLOBECOM 2024. ?? Research Impact: Thrilled to see my research gaining traction! This year, I received 55 citations, up from 29 citations in 2023, reflecting the growing recognition of my work. ?? EU Projects: Contributed to EU projects SmartEdgeProject, CLEVER-project, DESIRE6G, Natwork Project, HORIZON-SNS SEASON ?? Global Mobility and Collaborations: Proud to be an Erasmus Mobility Winner at my university, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, and spent mobility at TUE Eindhoven. Selected for the fully funded i2cat Winterschool, enhancing my knowledge and research skills. ???? Fresh from the oven! Our latest AIOTI white paper on "AI in Energy" is out: https://lnkd.in/eYjupnUK The paper discusses AI application in the energy sector along with considerations of the energy footprint of AI. The paper is the latest outcome of the collective effort of the #energyWG of AIOTI, lead by Natalie Samovich (chair) and Rute C. Sofia (co-chair) with active collaboration from WG members including (among others): Ond?ej ?erny, Antonio Kung, Sergio Gusmeroli, Asbjorn Hovsto, Valerio Frascolla, Udayanto Dwi Atmojo, John Soldatos and myself on behalf of University of Essex The paper also elaborates on the energy consideration of AI application in 6G cybersecurity, being investigated by the Natwork Project and its use case on sustainability of 6G services.
