These cold winter days in MN are perfect for our our Woodland Team to work on removal of oak trees infected with oak wilt fungus. This site near Elk River was cut and stacked a month ago while we waited for the safety of snow cover before we could burn the diseased brush. Additionally, the site is continually monitored while it burns. More work will be done next spring to preserve the healthy oak still standing.

These two sites are providing 95 MW to MISO and 700+ acres of native pollinator friendly habitat to the surrounding communities. NRS was proud to partner with Nat Grid on these two sites.
We are excited to announce that our Fillmore County Solar and Louise Solar projects in our home state of Minnesota are now operational. Together, these solar installations will deliver 95 megawatts of clean, renewable energy to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) market, in partnership with Xcel Energy. “Our roots began and remain planted in Minnesota, so it’s meaningful to see these two projects come to life in our own backyard,” said Blake Nixon, President and CEO of National Grid Renewables. In addition to generating clean power, these projects will generate $30+ million in direct economic impact over 20 years with $380,000 dedicated to Southland and LeRoy-Ostrander schools. Thank you to Xcel Energy, Berry Construction, First Solar, and all our project partners and employees for making these two projects a reality. A cold and beautiful morning in central Minnesota! Our crew was greeted by a pair of vibrant #sundogs which always seem to appear on the coldest of mornings. We are beginning work on a large oak savanna and prairie restoration project for the Minnesota Land Trust. The first phase is the removal of select trees to open up the overgrown savanna. Additional site preparation activities and seeding will happen later this year. #sundogs #oaksavanna #restoration #prairie #winter #vegetation ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ??

Solar generation up 26%, but electricity demand outpaces growth In 2024, the U.S. power grid’s electricity generation increased by over 109 TWh through the end of July, marking a 4.5% growth. This surge was led by a 52 TWh increase in methane generation, while solar power contributed an additional 36 TWh. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Information Administration (EIA) released its September Electric Power Monthly, which includes data through July 2024. Key highlights include solar generation increasing by nearly 26% year-over-year; a 1% increase in electricity consumption in July 2024 over July 2023; and a 4.5% rise in electricity generation from January to July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Additionally, residential electricity prices have risen by 4.6% since last year. Nationally, solar photovoltaics have seen a steady increase, now accounting for 6.22% of all electricity generated over the past 12 months, as shown in?PV Intel’s national solar data summary. This represents a 20% increase from the previous year when solar constituted 5.16% of all electricity... https://lnkd.in/gVGZgguu)
