We’re done with the first part of our advanced #3DPrinting cohort before the Thanksgiving break and 8th grader Xakeri is showing great skill continuing from 7th grade. He’s a creative kid with a range of artistic interests according to his mother. It shows in his growing digital talents. The first two classes were spent reviewing the basics, duplicating a few fundamental shapes like spheres, cylinders or pyramids and combining them into interesting abstract shapes. Below in this refresher project you will see his TinkerCAD model and the plastic printed piece. Check out this video snippet on how it came together. Nativity students and graduates converged on the Yum Center Tuesday to cheer on the Cards and Knights men’s basketball teams courtesy of PwC and the University of Louisville. Those in attendance included Nativity’s own two basketball teams. Regardless of the election results last night, there is work to do in your local community! It is our job as a society to fill the gaps and show up where we are needed! Nativity Academy at St Boniface and Educational Justice would love for you to spread the word, engage with our students, and/or donate your time/money/energy/influence. The work doesn't happen every 4 years at the ballot box. It happens everyday in your local community. You have value that can have a major impact on someone else. If you want to see positive change in your community, stop pointing out the problems and DO something about it, become a part of the solution. This is how fast, tangible results happen.

The 6th graders had a great start to their 3D Printing Basics class this week. We started with software, creating accounts in Tinkercad then practiced manipulating basic 3 dimensional shapes. The young engineers dragged a sphere, a pyramid and a cube onto the screen, duplicated each then grouped the originals with the copies to make new shapes. The final step was blending their new shapes together in unique ways on their own screens to create what is basically an abstract art piece.
