The leader in design, permitting, and installation of living shorelines in North Carolina, Native Shorelines staff have permitted and constructed over 5 miles of living shoreline. Living shorelines are an environmentally superior, durable and cost-effective solution for managing coastal erosion. They work with the natural habitat to mitigate the impacts of rising sea levels and natural disasters—while maintaining access to the water, and enabling landowners to fully enjoy the benefits of a coastal lifestyle now and well into the future
Native Shorelines specializes in oyster shell bag and QuickReef shorelines, but we also provide design, permitting, and installation assistance on other living shoreline types as well. Our proprietary QuickReef living shoreline system, is a unique living shoreline structure that’s made primarily of native coastal materials, including limestone marl and oyster shells. The easy-to-install units are arranged in shallow water just off the coastline, where they absorb wave energy, protect the marsh behind them, and create an ideal aquatic environment for oyster growth. Because of its effectiveness in shallow waters and resemblance to natural shoreline, QuickReef is unmatched among living shoreline options.
