Today, we hosted Spiritual Chief Arvol Looking Horse, Lakota of the Cheyenne River Sioux, at NATIVE, Inc. (Bismarck, ND) to speak about the White Buffalo Prophecy. Many Tribes believe, White Buffalo Calf is the most sacred living thing on earth. The calf is a sign to begin life's sacred loop. Native, Inc. Community Development Corporation just received the award announcement: NATIVE, Inc. was awarded the 3-year federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for $889,473, a total project cost of $1,111,951, to: Preserve and Expand Cultural Practices in North Dakota! I’ll be reaching out soon to invite members to a new statewide culture and arts advisory council to collect input on design and strategies for cultural programming Fargo and Grand Forks (for this grant) and Bismarck (for upcoming sustainable funding).
