The call for artists is open now for the summer season residency!!! The Grand Teton National Park is pleased to announce that the call for artists for this summer's Indigenous Arts and Cultural Demonstration Program is open now through March 20. The application is a weighted lottery process with artists from the 24 Tribal Nations with cultural and ancestral connection to the Grand Teton landscape receiving priority. This season we anticipate 18 weeks, with one artist in residency for each week. In addition to demonstrating art and traditional craft each day in the Colter Bay Visitor Center, artists are encouraged to consider presenting an evening program. These popular programs are an opportunity to speak directly to and share aspects of culture with the visiting public. Artists are able to choose what they share during these programs and participation is optional. Thanks to the continued and generous support of Grand Teton Association, in addition to free lodging in the park for a week, artists will have the opportunity to earn up to $2400 for their weeklong residency. New this year, artists will receive their $500 travel stipend upon arrival to Colter Bay, with the balance of their earnings (up to $1900) paid after the residency concludes. Exciting News, the Plains Indian Museum was approved for a PAID 10-week internship w. a one-time housing stipend of $750. I am seeking a BUFFALO RESEARCHER to Intern this summer at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wy. Open to upper level undergraduate, graduate or recently graduated individuals in the fields of Native American history, Museum Studies, or Traditional Ecological Knowledge The Plains Indian Museum intern will receive first-hand experience working with Indigenous collections from tribes of the Great Plains. The intern will play a critical role in supporting curatorial and registration staff on the care and research of collections. This opportunity will provide the intern with collections experience documenting and inventorying objects made of and relating to the American Bison, housed in the Plains Indian Museum collections.
