In 2024, our network came together like never before to meet families' most basic necessities. More babies are staying clean, dry, and healthy, and more individuals have the period supplies they need to show up confidently at school, work, and life. Our Annual Report highlights all we've accomplished together this year - the challenges we've faced, the wins we've celebrated, and most importantly, the impact we've had helping individuals and families thrive. We're so grateful for every supporter, volunteer, and member who made this possible! Take a look at what we've achieved together: https://lnkd.in/gBGfmcdp

We exist to reveal the truth behind diaper need. Basics aren't basic, they're essential.
关于我们
The National Diaper Bank Network (NDBN) leads a nationwide movement dedicated to helping individuals, children and families access the basic necessities they require to thrive and reach their full potential…including clean, dry diapers, period supplies and other basic needs. Launched in 2011 with the support of founding sponsor Huggies?, NDBN is dedicated to creating awareness, providing assistance and building community to #EndDiaperNeed in the US. Its active membership includes more than 300 basic needs banks serving local communities in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. More information on NDBN and diaper need is available at nationaldiaperbanknetwork.org, and on Twitter (@DiaperNetwork), Instagram (@DiaperNetwork) and Facebook (facebook.com/NationalDiaperBankNetwork). In May 2018, the organization launched the Alliance for Period Supplies, with the support of founding sponsor U by Kotex?, to raise national awareness of period poverty (#periodpoverty) and support the development and expansion of period supply programs in communities throughout the country. The organization is comprised of more than 130 Allied Programs that collect, warehouse and distribute menstrual/period supplies in local communities. More information on Alliance for Period Supplies is available at allianceforperiodsupplies.org, and on Twitter (@PeriodSupplies), Instagram (@PeriodSupplies) and Facebook (facebook.com/AllianceForPeriodSupplies).

Rising costs and proposed cuts to essential safety net programs like Medicaid and SNAP could create unprecedented financial challenges for young families, jeopardizing their well-being and making it even harder to cover the cost of basic needs. Nearly one in three families with children under 6 are struggling with food insecurity, and almost half of households with young children can’t afford enough diapers, which are crucial for children's health and well-being. Diapers can cost up to $100 a month— a significant expense when families are already stretched thin by the rising costs of food and housing. These basic needs are interconnected— while Medicaid and SNAP don’t directly cover the cost of diapers, they provide vital support for food, health care, and other essentials that help families stay afloat. Proposed cuts to these programs would only deepen the challenges faced by parents and children, increasing stress and potentially leading to worse health outcomes for both. When families can’t afford diapers and other basic needs, parents’ and children’s health and well-being suffer. A special thank you to our partner, Urban Institute, for their ongoing research and collaboration in bringing attention to the impact these policies have on young families and the long-term effects on our society. It's been ten years since Kiran Gandhi made headlines by running the London Marathon while free-bleeding. This powerful choice sparked worldwide conversations about period stigma that continue today. As Women's History Month wraps up, we're celebrating her decision to make a visible statement that shined a spotlight on period poverty and the issue of lack of access to essential period products. From those 26.2 miles to her thoughtful activism through music, Madame Gandhi exemplifies how periods can drive meaningful change. Join us as we continue to break barriers and make period poverty history.??? #WomensHistoryMonth #EndPeriodPoverty

ICYMI: A new article in The New York Times explores the gaps in enforcement and why access to period products is still a struggle. While 28 states and D.C. have implemented laws for free period products in schools, inadequate enforcement has left many students without these essential products. Now, Period Law and an NYC student are suing the education department to demand accountability. Thank you Alisha Haridasani Gupta for highlighting this important issue! https://nyti.ms/3FPHfwF
