The National Western Stock Show presented by CommonSpirit Health, established in 1906, is the premier livestock, rodeo, and horse show in the nation, serving agricultural producers and consumers throughout the world. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides education in agriculture, including college and graduate level scholarships in agriculture and veterinary medicine for practice in rural areas. As one of Colorado’s preeminent tourist destinations, the NWSS takes place every January for 16 days. We are a nationally recognized western heritage and entertainment event, and we host one of the world’s richest regular-season professional rodeos. We also boast one of the country’s largest horse shows and Colorado’s largest western trade show, attracting more than 650,000 visitors each year. Throughout this historic event, the NWSS strives to strengthen American agriculture through enrichment programs and youth education in livestock, equestrian, farming, ranching, animal awareness, and appreciation. Nope! It’s not photoshop! These Longhorn Cattle are walking down 17th Street in downtown Denver right in front of Union Station! Each year, we kick-off the National Western Stock Show with our parade led by these spectacular, gentle giants. Simulating cattle drives of the early American West, this representation of history and culture keeps the spirit of the West alive! When the Longhorns aren’t sipping coffee at Union Station, they live and are raised right here in Colorado. This heard spends the seasons grazing fields in Southern Colorado where they grow their striking horns that can reach over 100 inches. It’s calving season, so look for the young calf’s in our visit to the ranch this week. Want to see these beautiful animals in person? Join us for the Stock Show parade on January 9th!

National Western president and CEO Paul Andrews announces retirement. A committee has been formed that will work with executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles to help identify and select Andrews’ successor. For inquiries related to the executive search or to submit recommendations or nominations, please email [email protected]. Paul Andrews, who has led the NWSS and Complex since 2010, announced his retirement after the 2025 National Western Stock Show this January. Andrews’ tenure has been a boon to the Stock Show and the region. Under Andrews’ leadership, the economic importance of this unparalleled celebration of the West continued to grow, along with the Stock Show attendance, revenue, and the development of new National Western facilities through the Honoring the Legacy campaign.
