On December 4, Leavitt Partners will host a free, virtual workshop on the "Three-Hour Rule" and its impact on patients with severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), including concerns that it limits access to necessary rehabilitative care. The workshop will bring together healthcare providers, researchers, and advocacy groups to explore alternatives that could improve outcomes for TBI patients. The International Brain Injury Association (IBIA) is now accepting abstracts for the 15th World Congress on Brain Injury, to be held from March 19-22, 2025, in Montréal, Québec, Canada. This event is the world’s largest gathering of professionals in brain injury research and rehabilitation, providing an opportunity for experts to share their work with an international, multidisciplinary audience. The IBIA encourages submissions highlighting research and approaches in clinical practice across a wide range of topics, including hypoxic and ischemic brain injury, neurorehabilitation, public health policy, and more. Accepted abstracts will be published in a special edition of IBIA’s official journal, Brain Injury. The deadline for abstract submissions is Monday, October 7, 2024, at 11:59pm ET. Recent CDC studies highlight the increased risk of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in youth tackle football compared to flag football. Youth playing tackle football experience significantly more head impacts raising the risk of concussions and other serious brain injuries. To create a safer environment for young football players, experts recommend expanding opportunities for non-contact football, reducing contact practices, enforcing penalties for head hits, and educating athletes on proper techniques and injury prevention.
