The Incredible Story of STEM Center Africa! You are not going to believe this. STEM Center Africa, a member of the National STEM Honor Society, located in rural Kenya, has an incredible story to tell! 90% of the students who come from the surrounding 13 schools have NEVER USED a COMPUTER BEFORE. A number of the schools where the students come from do not have stable electricity or Internet. And yet, of 192 NASA contest program entrants, a team of 7 young women from STEM Center Africa came in FIRST! How does that happen? Founded in 2017, STEM Center Africa educates about 400 students in STEM from grades 3 to 12. University students come to the Center during local holiday periods as well. About 69% of the students are young women. A number of the students speak English in addition to their native language. STEM Center Africa relies on educators which they call collaborators, from the local region as well as from around the world including those from A Step Ahead Silicon Valley, Vulcan Robots and Edsnaps in the United States. When students come to STEM Center Africa, they enter a high tech universe including cutting edge training in Robotics, Arduino, Scratch Coding, Python, Java, Artificial Intelligence, and 3D Design. How can you help? On April 24, 2025 at STEM Center Africa there will be an Olympic Style Induction Ceremony on-site, welcoming approximately 60 student members into the National STEM Honor Society! Each student who has done the work and earned the recognition will be getting a full sized OLYMPIC STYLE MEDAL which will be a timeless symbol of achievement for decades to come. This is an annual bestowed award and students can collect new medals each year! A crowd of over 400 parents, educators, government officials, and sponsors will be at the event! But this is rural Kenya and STEM Center Africa needs all of our support in order to make this happen and to have funds going forward to keep on growing throughout Africa! National STEM Honor Society with STEM Center Africa, has a goal to raise $10,000 by the induction ceremony date of April 24, 2025. Who is a woman who has inspired your career? #IWD25
Who is a woman who has inspired your career? #IWD25 Without a doubt, Dr. Maxine Cain. Maxine's leadership, vision, and dedication to empowering others—especially women and underrepresented communities in STEM—have profoundly shaped my own approach to leadership and growth. She embodies resilience, innovation, and the unwavering belief that opportunity should be accessible to all. Watching her work, lead, and uplift others has been a constant source of motivation in my own career journey. On #IWD25, I celebrate Maxine and all the incredible women who push boundaries, break barriers, and inspire us to do better every day. https://lnkd.in/eTkNmZTR Who is a woman that has inspired your career? #Inspiration #Leadership #WomenInSTEM #IWD2025 #EquityAndInnovation

We are proud to announce our partnership with Educational Passages. They are a non-profit organization that connects students globally through its innovative Miniboat Program, promoting exploration, curiosity, conservation, and a deeper understanding of the ocean. The program involves students in preparing, deploying, and tracking 5-foot long uncrewed miniboats, which sail across the ocean with satellite transmitters. As students track their miniboats, they learn about ocean currents, weather, technology, and cultures worldwide by connecting with local communities where the boats land. This unique experience empowers students to become citizen scientists and global ocean stewards while fostering a sense of global connection and responsibility for the ocean's future. #EducationForAll #CitizenScience #OceanConservation #GlobalLearning #MiniboatProgram #StudentEngagement #SustainableEducation #MarineExploration #OceanStewards #InnovativeLearning #NSTEM https://lnkd.in/drrM4m9

Our chapter in Ecuador! The Admiral Illingworth Naval Academy is dedicated to educating high school graduates and citizens to improve the country, with over 60 years of experience in fostering both knowledge and values. It emphasizes a student environment based on harmony, discipline, and well-being, while involving families in their children's education. Commander Jorge Enrique Páez Torres, born in Ba?os, Tungurahua on January 10, 1919, had a distinguished military career in the Ecuadorian Navy. He was promoted through ranks to become Captain of Frigate, commanding several Navy ships and holding key positions such as Maritime Governor of the Galapagos and Naval Adjutant in Washington. He received prestigious awards for his service, including the "Abdón Calderón" and "José María Córdova" military honors. In 1962, after retiring from the Navy, he founded the Admiral Illingworth Naval Academy, which he envisioned as the top educational institution in Ecuador and Latin America. The Academy has educated over 10,000 students and is internationally recognized for its excellence. Commander Páez passed away on June 28, 2009, leaving a lasting educational legacy. #EcuadorEducation #NavalAcademy #AdmiralIllingworth #EcuadorHistory #MilitaryEducation #LeadershipDevelopment #ValuesBasedEducation #Tungurahua #EducationForAll #LegacyOfExcellence https://ow.ly/KeU650V6F7J
