Earlier this month I joined 150 other small business owners and leaders in Washington for the National Small Business Association Washington Presentation. We heard from a number of people on what is being done (or fought for) when it comes to #SmallBusiness policy and we advocated on Capitol Hill with legislators from across the country on a number of issues impacting businesses in the U.S. Great networking, great events, and a great turnout in the name of Small Business. Oh, and I was nominated and named a finalist for the Small Business Advocate of the Year award….so that was pretty cool. Last week, I had the opportunity to advocate for Small Business owners! All my efforts are nonpartisan through National Small Business Association I spoke to Congressman Norman’s office about my SC clients’ concerns and here are some of them: 1) Section 199a The close-to expiring TCJA tax benefits for small businesses. We still need these for small businesses to keep thriving! 2) Abolishing the Corporate Transparency Act. It appears to be an unnecessary administrative lift for small businesses owners. 3) Section 174. Small business owners need to be able to write off R&D Costs in the year incurred -> tax savings!

Had a great trip to Washington DC last week with the National Small Business Association, got to see Rand Paul (my Senator) presenting an amendment on the Senate floor and Congressman Guthrie was awesome, got to tag along through the tunnels to watch him vote on the House floor for five votes. UPDATE | After meeting with more than 150 small-business owners as part of NSBA's Washington Presentation, Congress agreed to passage of a funding bill through Dec. 20. Passing 341-82 in the House and 72-18 in the Senate, passage of this continuing funding resolution signifies Congress' commitment to bipartisanship and coming together to ensure federal tools and resources, like the SBA, remain operational to serve the small-business community. Follow NSBA as we continue advocating for a fully funded and equipped SBA and common-sense government action to support small business.? ### When #SmallBusiness talks, #Congress listens, and #NSBA is thrilled Members of the House and Senate heard our message to reach an agreement and avert a government #shutdown.
