The United States Space Force has awarded artificial intelligence startup?Anduril Industries?a contract worth up to almost $100 million to create a modern, machine-to-machine communications network to link sensors for monitoring the heavens to command and control (C2) systems and data analysts, the company announced today. The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, managed by Space Force?Space Systems Command,?covers a five-year program to deliver its?Lattice?software to US Space Command (SPACECOM) “as a resilient mesh networking capability” to modernize the?Space Surveillance Network (SSN), Anduril’s press release said. On November 8, the Space Systems Command (SSC) posted a sources sought notice for Meadowlands sustainment. Responses are due by 4:00 p.m. Pacific on December 6. SSC, located at Los Angeles Air Force Base, California, is seeking information in the form of Statements of Capabilities (SOC) from interested parties in support of the SSC, Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power Directorate requirement for the Counter Communications System (CCS) Meadowlands as described below.?The Government is conducting market research to inform its Acquisition Strategy. This morning, we hosted our inaugural Space Weather and National Security Breakfast, featuring insightful conversations on the latest strategies and innovations for measuring, predicting, and mitigating space weather impacts. We explored how solar activity and geomagnetic storms affect the space environment, influencing spacecraft operations, communication systems, navigation technologies, and surveillance systems. Our discussions also highlighted the critical role of space weather knowledge in supporting attribution efforts.
