Omaha, Nebraska, is known across the United States as one of the best sources of steak, which is why it has served as the country’s meatpacking center since the 1950s. Although lesser known, Omaha’s riverfront also has been attracting headlines, especially recently since the completion of a $325 million renovation of the city’s downtown parkland. Known as the Omaha Riverfront Revitalization Project, the 72 acres of parkland that bridges the city’s historic Old Market and north downtown area was revitalized to bring life to three underutilized city parks — Gene Leahy Mall, Heartland of America Park, and Lewis and Clark Landing. While the House of Representatives passed this bill back in the spring, the Senate has yet to take it up. Let's bring the benefits of green space and parks to all Americans. Let's urge Congress to pass this critical, bipartisan bill this year: https://bit.ly/3V1kNWi #OutdoorsForAll #PowerOfParks

The future of parks and recreation is so bright ?? We couldn't agree more with Becky Benna, retired CEO of Five Rivers Metro Park, parks and recreation plays a big role is shaping community well-being, in so many areas. Benna shares her love of nature and being outdoors, recreation programs, mentorship, and career development, watch the full video and others: https://bit.ly/43M6tUF Park and recreation professionals wear many hats, they're community builders, advocates, mentors- to name a few. We've found the stories they have to tell incredibly powerful. That’s why we started the video-storytelling project, Park and Recreation Stories. Through uplifting voices in the field we aim to highlight the power of parks, as well as significant events experienced by our members, partners and advocates. We’re excited to continue sharing these stories with you throughout 2024 and into 2025 as we begin celebrating our 60th anniversary. #ParkAndRecStories #NRPA60 #PowerOfParks #WhereYouBelong #ParkAndRecMonth
