“The pain feels like a paper cut multiplied by 10,000 spread out over the entire body” is how one individual describes what it feels like living with Generalized Pustular Psoriasis (GPP). One of our greatest joys at National Psoriasis Foundation in “driving efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected” (our mission) is connecting patients with healthcare providers and information about treatments that can empower them to optimize their health - and break this cycle of pain. Thanks to advances in our field, that now includes targeted treatment for GPP patients. Today, I had the privilege of spending the day with the Boehringer Ingelheim team talking about our shared commitment to serving this segment of the psoriasis community. As we concluded the day with a panel discussion during their staff town hall in front of a thousand+ members of their team, I had the chance to say “thank you” on behalf of these patients for developing this new treatment option and express our enthusiasm for the potential for more individuals living with GPP to achieve optimal health in 2025. On a sunny October weekend in Salt Lake City, Utah, over 100 dermatology and rheumatology residents and fellows joined expert faculty for the 2024 Dermatology Residents' and Rheumatology Fellows' Meeting. This immersive, cross-disciplinary event offered deep dives into the latest in psoriatic disease treatment, with sessions on everything from managing psoriatic arthritis and skin manifestations to exploring health disparities and cost barriers in care. Thank you to all attendees for sharing insights and working toward better outcomes for people with psoriatic disease. A special thank you to our co-chairs, Sam Hwang, M.D., Ph.D., Wilson Liao, M.D., Joseph F. Merola, M.D. MMSc, and Alice Gottlieb for leading this inspiring weekend of learning and collaboration.
