Join us with Common Health Coalition to hear from experts whose solutions-oriented approaches on critical public health issues have shown how innovation and disruption can radically shift how communities can access care. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of critical public health care issues, including global pandemic preparation and response, reproductive care, data sharing and technology, and more. Today we celebrate 13 years as the National Press Club Journalism Institute! Since 2011, we have been powering journalism in the public interest and are grateful for your support. Help us celebrate the occasion with a birthday gift of $10, $15, or even $25 that will go directly to our efforts to provide the resources, training, and networks that help journalists better serve our democracy. Here are 13 fun facts about the Institute: We are the nonprofit affiliate of the National Press Club, which started in 1908. You don’t need to be a Club member to subscribe to our newsletters or attend our programs ?? With the NPC, we award more than $30,000 to student journalists every year ?? We’re dog people: Our teammates are pet parents to Nelson, Roger, Sidney, and Monty ?? Our signature newsletter, The Latest, launched in March 2020 during the early days of the COVID pandemic ?? Prior to 2011, the Institute was known as Friends of National Journalism Library, Inc. NPCJI President Gil Klein authored a book on the history of the National Press Club ?? Our offices are in D.C., but the Institute serves more than 9,500 journalists worldwide ?? Our staff has lived all over the country: CA, TX, AR, WV, MN, MA, VA, NC, and now DC! We’ve held 18 in-person or virtual educational programs this year (and more to come)! Fifteen dedicated journalism leaders, educators and advocates make up the Institute’s volunteer Board of Directors ?? The Institute, with our partner the National Press Foundation, awards reporting grants for environmental justice projects. Two Institute staffers met their spouses while studying journalism and working at their student-led news outlets together! ??
