?? Congress is back in session, and we need your voice! ?? The Treat and Reduce Obesity Act (TROA) needs approval from two key committees: Ways & Means and Energy & Commerce (E&C). In June, TROA made significant progress when the Ways & Means Committee reviewed and passed an amended version of the bill. Now, it's time for the E&C Committee to take action! ?? Why is this important? TROA must pass out of the committee before the full House of Representatives can vote on it. That's why we need advocates like YOU to urge the Energy & Commerce Committee to include TROA in their next markup. ?? How can you help? Use this link to enter your address, and if your Representative is a member of the E&C Committee, you'll be able to send them a prewritten email urging them to support TROA. ?? Our President and CEO, Joe Nadglowski, co-authored a new study titled "What would be left of me? Patient perspectives on the risks of obesity treatment," published in Obesity Pillars. The study explores concerns from adults across Europe and North America about obesity treatments, highlighting three main risks: 1?? Access Issues: Challenges with insurance, long waiting lists, and eligibility can limit access to treatments. 2?? Unmet Expectations: Many feel pressured to achieve and maintain weight loss, leading to disappointment if goals aren't met. 3?? Impact of Success: Even successful treatments can bring emotional challenges, including a loss of identity and coping mechanisms. Understanding these concerns is key to improving obesity treatment approaches. We're proud OAC contributed to this vital conversation! Read the study here: https://lnkd.in/gsXDY6fT
