Connecting Native law students & encouraging the study of Federal Indian law and Tribal law.
关于我们
The National Native American Law Students Association was founded in 1970 to support law students who are interested in the study of Federal Indian Law, Tribal Law, and traditional forms of governance. Through NNALSA, we increase the Native American law student population and promote indigenous legal issues that affect Native communities.

While some schools have a number of advisors to help guide students as they prepare for legal work in Indian Country, there are some students who may not have that guidance available when it comes time to pick classes. Earlier in the year, we asked law professors, practitioners and others in the community what classes have helped them the most when practicing law in Indian Country (besides Federal Indian Law and/or Tribal Law). Here are some of the most common answers and some explanations for why these classes were helpful. Are there any classes that were left off of this list? What are they and why would you include them?

It’s no secret that women are a pillar of our Native law community. Whether they’re running the conferences where we gather, teaching the classes where we learn, arguing the cases that protect our sovereignty, writing the articles that help us understand the field better, upholding accountability as judges, helping us to become stronger versions of ourselves, or blessing us with their wisdom and grace in times of trouble, our community is endlessly grateful for the work that women put in to this profession to keep us all going strong. Send this to a woman who has helped you along in your law school journey and let them know they are appreciated, today and every day.
