People diagnosed with and at high risk for #LungCancer face unique challenges linked to stigma. Research shows that the majority of lung cancer patients experience stigma, leading to increased psychosocial distress, self-blame, and isolation. This stigma extends to family members and caregivers, creating barriers to effective risk reduction and early detection. It impacts every phase of the lung cancer continuum. Reducing lung cancer stigma requires collective effort. The American Cancer Society NLCRT created the Lung Cancer Stigma-- Communications Assessment Tool (LCS-CAT) to help organizations evaluate and modify the language, imagery, and contexts used to engage the lung cancer community to promote empathy and optimism. Pernell, MD, MPH, FACPM serves as Director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity. Her work focuses on health justice, community-based advocacy, and population-wide health promotion and disease prevention. We're looking forward to the critical insights she'll share on advancing health equity across the lung cancer continuum. Dr. Pasi J?nne, Director of the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, will anchor a session on the #LungCancer treatment landscape.
