Did you know the NLSC offers #languagetesting through the Defense Language Proficiency Test (#DLPT) and Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI)? The program supports and encourages members to pursue a score of 3, considered general professional proficiency, or higher. Currently, over 52% of NLSC members in the Federalized Component have a DLPT or OPI score of 3 or above, which enables the program to support more challenging mission requests by demonstrating to #Government partners that NLSC members are experts in their target #languages. The National Language Service Corps (NLSC) is a congressionally authorized program that provides U.S. Federal agencies with vital language, regional expertise, and cultural support. When a critical language need arises, the NLSC taps its members to support Government agencies through translation, interpretation, instruction, and cultural advising. The NLSC’s highly skilled membership of more than 12,000 language professionals offers expertise in over 500 languages and dialects. In turn, members benefit from a wide variety of professional training, testing, and networking opportunities provided by the NLSC. NLSC Partnering Lead Carolyn Sparks delivered a presentation at the 300th #MilitaryIntelligence (MI) Brigade Language Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, on February 7. This year’s event was the largest yet, with over 1,000 military members in attendance! The conference, themed “Linguists on the New Front Line,” explored strategic problem sets, emerging technologies, and the evolving skills requirements intelligence #linguists need to fight effectively.
