The mission of the National Job Corps Association is to unite the Job Corps community through activities and services that strengthen the program for the benefit of students, staff and employers. The National Job Corps Association, Inc. (NJCA) is a 501 (c) (6) professional trade association comprised of business, labor, volunteer, advocacy, academic and community organizations. NJCA was founded in 1998 by 38 charter member organizations consisting largely of the for-profit and non-profit contractors that operated the then 118 Job Corps centers around the nation. Since 1998, the membership of the NJCA has more than doubled. Growing to include employers and community partners. By uniting these stakeholders, the NJCA has strengthened the Job Corps through government relations, grassroots education and outreach, informing national policy, and outreach campaigns that increase the visibility of Job Corps. Job Corps is the nation’s largest residential career training program and has been operating for almost 60 years. The program helps eligible young people ages 16 through 24 complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers and assists them with obtaining employment. ?? Building Bright Futures in Construction! ?? The 7th Annual Northern Nevada Construction Career Day welcomed around 1,600 middle and high school students, bringing the excitement of the construction industry to the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. ???? Hosted by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Nevada and Washoe County's Signature Academies & Career Technical Education (CTE), this event showcased 45 exhibitors demonstrating hands-on skills and trades to inspire the next generation. “Construction is everywhere… we need to expose these kids while they are young to get them interested in lucrative careers," shared Carisalynn Stratton, AGC's workforce development manager. Among the event's educational resources was Sierra Nevada Job Corps, which helps prepare students for thriving careers in construction with hands-on training and certifications in trades like carpentry, electrical, and more. What a great way to start out National Apprenticeship Week with the Annual PA Workforce Development Association’s ApprenticeshipPA! Not only did Kelly King and I get to attend and collaborate but we also showcased some amazing KeyRock students! Painting, Plastering and the Brick trades were represented and offered hands on demonstrations with virtual reality fun and a little getting dirty! And then to top it off our former instructor Steve Pedrusnak who is now the liaison for IUPAT and Job Corps spoke on one of the opening panels! And then the cherry on top was getting an opportunity to spend time with Secretary of PA Labor and Industry Nancy A. Walker and her team! What a great start to the week! Adams and Associates, Inc.
