During their visit to Washington D.C. last week, Clearfield Job Corps Center Director Shannon O'Shea, Centennial Job Corps Center Director Traci Jones, and Clearfield City Mayor Mark Shepherd received a private tour of the U.S. Capitol from U.S. Representative Blake Moore (UT), U.S. Representative Celeste Maloy (UT), and U.S. Senator John Curtis (UT). ??? Shannon said it was a great experience and enjoyed talking one-on-one with Rep. Moore. They learned a lot and had a great time! ?? The next day, Shannon was also able to visit the offices of U.S. Rep. Burgess Owens (UT), U.S. Sen. Mike Lee (UT), Rep. Moore, Sen. Curtis, and Rep. Maloy. Adams’ Woodland Job Corps Center HBI (Home Builders Institute) Electric graduate Markus Bold knows his future is lit thanks to his new placement with In and Out Construction in Lanham, MD. ? Markus came to Woodland from Southern Maryland after hearing about the program from his uncle. Since he came with his high school diploma, he could focus on his industry-recognized credentials. Woodland’s latest alumnus is certified in HBI Pre-Apprenticeship Training, Stepladder Safety, Residential Rooftop Solar PV Technician and OSHA 10. Adams leaders Susan Larson and Ross Peterson, along with Sierra Nevada Job Corps Director Rocky Flanary, met with U.S. Representative Mark Amodei to discuss strengthening student benefits. At Pinellas Job Corps we celebrate a LOT, but our highest honor is a "clap out". Clap outs are reserved for students who complete all of their program requirements and exit directly into high quality placements including the military, apprenticeships, college, advanced training and careers that are directly related to their area of career technical study. Each clap out is unique and Malcolm's was more like a small parade! His recruiters, his mom, aunt, grandmom, little cousin, and counselor all joined him on his last walk to his dorm before leaving center to ship out the next day. Clap outs have become an integral part of our center culture, creating core memories for honored graduates, their loved ones and all of us. And still, there's more. Success is contagious.
