A new whitepaper—Scaling Coordinated Specialty Care for First-Episode Psychosis: Insights From a National Impact Model—highlights the transformative potential of expanding access to Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) programs for individuals experiencing first-episode psychosis (FEP). Scaling CSC could not only improve outcomes for individuals but also generate significant economic returns across healthcare, employment, housing, and criminal justice systems. CSC is the gold standard of care for early psychosis in the U.S., backed by major organizations like the NIMH, APA, and SAMHSA. It’s an evidence-based, recovery-focused approach that improves clinical, social, and functional outcomes for individuals experiencing early psychosis. This collaborative effort by NAMI, NASMHPD, National Council for Mental Wellbeing, and McKinsey Health Institute underscores the urgent need to expand CSC to meet the needs of more individuals experiencing first-episode psychosis.
