?? I’m excited to be speaking at the 11th Annual NoCo Hemp Expo, April 10-12 in Estes Park, CO—the nation’s largest gathering of hemp industry leaders. This event is more than an expo; it’s an opportunity to connect, collaborate, and drive real change in the hemp industry. Now is the time for Indigenous nations to take a serious look at hemp as a sustainable industry that can create jobs, strengthen economies, and support environmental stewardship. Hemp is more than a plant—it’s a viable commodity that provides new revenue streams outside of federal funding and shifting political landscapes. Tribes also have a unique opportunity to leverage Sovereignty and Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs) to position themselves as key players in the global hemp market. FTZs provide significant cost savings on duties and tariffs, allowing Tribes to store, process, and distribute hemp products more efficiently. By using existing agricultural land bases and strategic trade advantages, Tribal nations can lead this industry forward. This is a call to action for ICIA members, industry leaders, and those committed to advancing hemp. Let’s work together to expand access, improve policy, and unlock the full potential of this plant.
