DACA is back in the courts today, as anti-immigrant forces spend the day arguing to dismantle the program and put hundreds of thousands of people at risk of being separated from their families, communities, and homes. “Yo tengo un sueno muy grande, yo me quiero convertir en un artista.” ??? ?? “I have a big dream, I want to be an artist.” NIJC client Camilo talked about his dream earlier this year when he opened his home to us to share his story of fleeing persecution in his home country, and all he went through to secure a safe and hopeful future in the United States. As soon as we stepped into his home, however, we realized Camilo already was an artist. His beautiful artwork, exceptional resilience, and generous spirit has been an inspiration to many of us at NIJC and our supporters this year. As we keep fighting for justice and human rights for all immigrants, #HispanicHeritageMonth is an opportunity to pause and celebrate the many ways Latine immigrants have enriched our communities.
