Congratulations to our Traffic Officer Tony Neve for winning a Police Public Bravery Award at the National Police Chief's Bravery Awards. Tony received the award for heroically rescuing a young woman from the motorway.

Trucks are essential for our economy and to improve truck safety we are working with Euro NCAP through the introduction of a Truck Safe rating because road safety is a shared responsibility. Euro NCAP - For Safer Cars, Vans & Trucks introduced its new initiative, the first-ever TRUCK SAFE assessment programme, focusing on Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) safety. This new initiative is a significant step towards the Vision Zero goal, aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries. Road safety is a shared responsibility. Our Historic Railways Estate (HRE) is a collection of over 3,100 structures and assets which were once part of Britain’s rail network. As part of HRE, work began on the beautiful Riddings Viaduct this autumn, located across the border of England and Scotland. The viaduct was built by the North British Railway as part of its branch from Riddings Junction, a station on the outside of Carlisle, to Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway. The line opened on 18 March 1864. Work being done on the structure includes: ?? Repairs to masonry and concrete ??? Repointing of open joints ??Restoration to the parapet handrails All repairs are to be undertaken on a like for like basis using materials that match as closely as possible to the existing materials. Congratulations to our very own Yusuf Patel for winning Apprentice of the Year 2024 within Transport and Logistics at the Multicultural Apprenticeship Awards, what a fantastic achievement! Yusuf received the award for his outstanding contribution to our sustainability projects and his dedication to paying it forward by supporting other apprentices.

We donated ￡10,000 to support CATZero, a Hull-based charity close to our A63 Castle Street site that supports young people, the long-term unemployed, veterans, former drug users and ex-offenders. CATZero uses its own yacht to provide sail training to improve health and wellbeing, build confidence and encourage teamwork, helping people back into education, training, or simply on the path towards their goals. This was funded by our Major Projects Social Value programme.
