With her leadership and the continued guidance of our President-Elect, Dr. Clifford Hudis MD, we are poised to make an even greater impact in the years to come. We are also excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Miguel Paniagua, MD, FACP, FAAHPM and Susan Gaffney, MS, to our Board of Directors! This is an exciting new chapter for our organization as we continue to grow and strengthen our commitment to making healthcare better together. A heartfelt thank you to our outgoing President, Sue Sedory, MA CAE for her outstanding leadership and dedication. Your legacy will continue to inspire us as we move forward. We are so grateful for the leadership and vision of our Board of Direction and the over 100 volunteer leaders who contribute to the organization each year. Together, we can advance the expertise and collective voice of specialty societies in support of physicians and the patients we serve.?

Today, the National Health Council (NHC) partnered with the American Psychiatric Association (APA) on a science of #patientengagement session at the 2024 Council of Medical Specialty Societies Annual Meeting in Chicago. Dr. Omar A. Escontrías, DrPH, MPH, NHC SVP, Equity, Research and Programs and Dr. Marketa Wills, MD, MBA, CPC, APA CEO and Medical Director delivered a strong message on the intersection of patient engagement, mental health research, and community linkages. #CMSS2024

This National Family Caregivers Month, the National Health Council (NHC) honors the contributions of family caregivers, especially those supporting individuals with chronic diseases and disabilities. Caregivers not only assist with daily needs but also serve as critical advocates for their loved ones. Several NHC members are leading the charge in providing resources and support for family caregivers year-round, including the American Association of Caregiving Youth (AACY), Caregiver Action Network, and the National Alliance for Caregiving. We'd also like to recognize NHC members who focus on a specific patient community or provide other services & support to caregivers, including the Alliance for Aging Research, The ALS Association, Alzheimer's Association?, Brain Injury Association of America, Cure SMA, HealthWell Foundation, Mental Health America, NAMI, National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD), PAN Foundation, Parkinson's Foundation, Prevent Blindness, and the Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR). The National Health Council's Value Classroom has been revamped with new resources designed to improve patient-centered value assessment! Among the new tools is the Patient-Centered Value Model Rubric, which helps to evaluate the patient-centeredness of value models and guides developers in meaningfully incorporating patient engagement. In addition, we've added the Consideration Guide for Patient Organizations, a companion to the Rubric and the Value Framework Get-Ready Checklist. Today, the National Health Council (NHC) had the pleasure of presenting at #ISPOREurope 2024! NHC SVP, Equity, Research and Programs Dr. Omar A. Escontrías, DrPH, MPH and NHC Director of Research and Programs Silke Schoch presented on the various applications of the NHC’s Patient Experience Mapping Toolbox, which includes qualitative research to capture patient experience data in a holistic way and real-world evidence studies.
