"Vote" by Simmie Knox (b. 1935) -- this painting depicts Fannie Lou Hamer and Ella Baker Fannie Lou Hamer and Ella Baker were pivotal civil rights activists who championed grassroots organizing and political participation for African Americans. Hamer, known for her powerful speeches, co-founded the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party and fought for voting rights, famously declaring, "I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired." Baker, a key strategist behind the NAACP, SCLC, and SNCC, believed in empowering ordinary people, particularly Black youth and women, to lead their own communities. Both women’s legacies emphasize collective action and the fight for racial justice and equality.

A recent survey reveals that 83% of Black respondents consider a presidential candidate’s foreign policy at least somewhat important, even if more immediate domestic issues like employment, healthcare, and racial equality often take priority. The connection between foreign policy and economic/health concerns is evident, with global trade and pandemic response shaping everyday realities.
