Military customers who are electing to do Personally Procured Moves (PPM) are being reimbursed at the new lower rates provided by the GHC and are reporting that it isn’t enough for them to hire a mover or rent the necessary equipment to do it themselves. Military advocate Megan Harless has created a petition on change.org asking for the DOD to make changes to ensure that military personnel aren’t harmed by the move to GHC and what are significantly lower reimbursement rates than what is in the current program. HomeSafe Alliance just hit a new weekly record! In the last seven days, we were assigned 1,332 Move Task Orders from the military services. With more than 4,500 MTOs assigned to us so far, we are continuing to lead a historic transformation of the military move system. Bringing about such significant change comes with challenges. But throughout each move we service, we are learning valuable lessons and are thoroughly committed to improving our systems and processes to ensure the best move experience.

This week I had the pleasure of representing National Forwarding Co., Inc. & National Van Lines at American Trucking Associations #MSCinDC24 engaging with lawmakers to understand the key issues our industry faces such as: - Protecting the Independent Contractor (IC) Model - GAO Study Follow-up for the Global Household Goods Contract - Combatting Moving Fraud to protect our Consumers - Restoring the Moving Expense Tax Deduction 102 MSC Members visited the capital, having 82 Congressional Meetings! Special thanks to the Illinois lawmakers and staff who took the time to speak with my group. We had some key takeaways on both sides: - Rep. Danny Davis: National's district representative (we hope to get a site visit ??) had a staffer almost become a victim of rogue movers a couple of weeks previously! He didn't realize how close he had come and how big of an issue this is nationwide. - Sen. Tammy Duckworth: Her staffer in the US Coast Guard has direct experience with DoD Household Goods moves and remembered us from the previous year! - Rep. Mike Quigley: District Rep to others in our group, whose staffer asked very insightful questions about our key issues and took the time to understand how our business is impacted. - Rep. Brad Schnieder: His staffer just came out of a FIVE-HOUR voting session and still had the energy to speak with us! Talk about dedication!
