Our thanks to Anne Gordon and Stuart Landsberg for a fantastic session on US Politics and Tax. Over 180 CTA members were able to join us live for this member-only webinar. ? The session explored President Trump’s first 30 days in office, provided an understanding of the Budget Reconciliation Process, and touched on the impact tariffs, tax changes, and Presidential Memorandums have on tax functions. One key takeaway was the importance of tax functions being partners in business decision-making in the current environment.

Yesterday, the Financial Times published my response to an Editorial which mischaracterized the way in which U.S. companies are taxed globally. The National Foreign Trade Council has engaged with the OECD process for years and will continue to do so in an effort to ensure American companies are not disadvantaged abroad. “[President] Trump’s willingness to stand up for US businesses, workers and the US Treasury’s coffers is a positive development and the US business community welcomes a dialogue that addresses the concerns of all parties involved.” Read the full text here: https://lnkd.in/ez8TRKKA

I'm thrilled to announce that Ambassador Demetrios Marantis will serve as the new president of the National Foreign Trade Council Foundation. We are grateful to have Demetrios' leadership as we look to expand the Foundation's educational efforts to engage business, startup, nonprofit leaders and the public about the importance of global trade and investment. Business. from manufacturers like Caterpillar Inc., John Deere, HP, Siemens, Samsung Electronics, Toyota North America and LG Electronics North America to small businesses like the super-cool student-founded BRCÄ“ Laces (thanks Madhav Aggarwal for the demo) to innovators like Amazon, Meta, Microsoft and Google. The National Foreign Trade Council yesterday was honored to present Representative Brad Schneider with the 2024 NFTC International Tax Award, which was awarded in absentia at this year’s World Trade dinner. As part of our award presentation, we also had the opportunity to discuss the business and tax landscape heading into the new year. We appreciate Rep. Schneider’s continued efforts to work in a bipartisan manner to build a strong and competitive American economy and strengthen the global position of American businesses.?
