NEF is grateful to have been a part of the reopening of the 2100 Memorial Senior-Living Community in Houston. Our partners at Columbia Residential, and the Houston Housing Authority led the charge of this reopening that is a significant milestone for seniors returning to their homes after being displaced by Hurricane Harvey. Congratulations to all involved and thank you for making #seniorhousing a priority in your community. Check out photos below and read more about this development in the press release: https://lnkd.in/gssTp9Eg
Several years ago, Columbia Residential joined the Houston Housing Authority, the City of Houston, and our partners Creekstone and Waterman Steele Real Estate Advisors with a shared vision to provide the seniors of 2100 Memorial with a beautiful, high-quality, and resilient community following the devastation of Hurricane Harvey. One designed to withstand the forces of nature and provide a safe haven for residents during storms. On Thursday, we celebrated the delivery of that vision with the opening of the newly constructed 2100 Memorial. We were honored to join our partners, the residents, the community, and other stakeholders, including Wells Fargo (Michael Marra), Citi Community Capital (Mahesh Aiyer and Adam Hurwitz), National Equity Fund, Inc. (Jason Aldridge), JHP Architecture / Urban Design (John Schrader, Davy Pang, Maria Capota) hue Design, Kimley-Horn, and our General Contractor- Block Companies, LLC to cut the ribbon and welcome the residents home. The newly opened Copley Chambers II & III were designed to meet the current needs of Providence, Rhode Island through high-quality, permanently subsidized #affordablehousing units. These mixed-use buildings stand in place of a vacant lot and rundown retail space and will offer #supportivehousing for low-income residents, a neighborhood health center, and services for emerging youth aging out of foster care. ? With 124 homes for families and individuals earning between 30% to 80% of the area median income (AMI), Copley Chambers II & III were created by MARATHON DEVELOPMENT with construction financing provided by Citizens. ? NEF's own Liz Hibbard and Tony Lyons were there to celebrate the opening of this exciting new #communitydevelopment! Check out the photos below:?

Last month, our partners at Mercy Housing broke ground on the first #affordablehousing project funded by the Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund, 1633 Valencia St. This visionary fund demonstrates the power of public-private partnerships in #communitydevelopment and #housing. The groundbreaking was supported and attended by the mayor, city officials, and local leaders. Developed on a former Sears parking lot in the Mission District in San Francisco, 1633 Valencia St. will provide 145 units of #seniorhousing, especially those at risk or experiencing homelessness. These homes will be set aside for low-income seniors earning up to 50% of the area median income (AMI). Seniors already living in the area will be prioritized and able to safely and comfortably age in place. Congratulations to all those involved in making these affordable homes possible!
