National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum

President Theodore Roosevelt, also known as the "Cowboy President," is a shining example of a core pillar of the Code of the West: Always finish what you start. At The Cowboy, we celebrate the Code of the West, a universal set of human values tied to the history of the American West and applicable to everyone. Every day, we give guests to the Museum a chance to learn about the people in history who embody the Code. Reminding ourselves of how they lived it can be a great lesson. Roosevelt had close ties with the West. Through his hunting experience, he saw firsthand how much the country's bison population had dwindled. When he won reelection in 1904, he was determined to preserve the "most characteristic animal of the Western Plains." During his second term, Roosevelt established the Wichita Forest and Game Preserve as the nation's first refuge for big game. At this year's 25th Annual Traditional Cowboy Arts Association, we salute the artists who spend hours in their studios crafting stunning pieces of work in the disciplines of saddlemaking, silversmithing, bit and spur making and rawhide braiding, All of those solo efforts will be on display along with the California Rose saddle, a jaw-dropping project created by a team-up of every member of the TCAA working at the top of their game. At our Goin' West Music Fest, you'll have a chance to take home a little bit of country music history. We were honored to work with the Oklahoma Arts Council to loan and assist in the installation of three pieces of artwork from our collection in the public areas of the Governor's office at the State Capitol. The works were "Thirty Minutes to Daylight" by Bill Anton; "Back to the Herd" by Olaf Carl Wieghorst; and "Range Boss" by Tony Eubanks. The Cowboy is home to a world-class collection of the best in Western art. We are happy to share it every day with the people of Oklahoma and our guests at The Museum.

Meet the artists of the Goin' West Music Fest presented by @FowlerAuto: Headliner Kylie Morgan (@kyliemorganmusic) Kylie leads the lineup of four great artists performing Sept. 13 at the Goin' West Music Fest right here at The Cowboy. Kylie is an Oklahoma native who began performing and touring full-time at age 14. In the last few years, she's grown her audience on social media, releasing songs that have exploded in popularity on TikTok. She released a pair of EPs: Love, Kylie (2021) and P.S. (2022). "If He Wanted to He Would" was Morgan's debut single on July 25, 2022, and became a top 40 hit on the Billboard Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts.
