For the better part of this year, all my free time after work and on weekends has been spent studying for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) AREs- and I'm so glad to say it finally paid off! It'll be another year(-ish) until I can apply for licensure, but I wanted to take this moment to memorialize this accomplishment. The hardest part is over, now I just have to wait! I do think I had an advantage on these exams because of the great experience I've had at Dewberry working under Larry Hasson, AIA, Amanda Schlichting, AIA, and Dodie Hudson, seeing a wide variety of project types and being able to touch them from beginning to end- all while being encouraged to ask questions (and trust me, I always have a question ready). Their patience and willingness to train the next "generation" made testing that much easier.
