Join us October 28 @ 6pm ET for a critical discussion on gender apartheid and the international community’s relationship with the Taliban. This program will address the political and ethical questions on how to report and engage with the Taliban to secure human rights and gender protections. This week, the NCAFP's Next-Gen Korean Peninsula Specialists met in New York City for a series of workshops and policy roundtables. The NCAFP hosted a 5-Party discussion in May, convening experts from China, Japan, the ROK, Russia, and the U.S. Participants addressed the current and future state of the security environment in Northeast Asia and of North Korea nuclear developments, policies, and engagement. The NCAFP hosted its annual U.S.-China Strategic Dialogue in May. Our latest report, "U.S.-China: Paving a Better Way Forward," co-authored by Susan Thornton and Emily Sparkman, summarizes the key recommendations and takeaways from the discussion. Experts from both sides assessed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed opportunities and challenges for managing the future of the relationship in the face of the upcoming U.S. Presidential Election, ongoing wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and numerous other points of contention in the Indo-Pacific region.
