关于我们
Since 1988, the National Center on Education and the Economy (NCEE) has been researching the world’s best-performing education systems to give states and districts the tools they need to become world class. NCEE has been a leader in U.S. education from policy to practice, producing reports that have led to landmark national legislation, supporting states in redesigning their education systems, and providing rigorous, proven supports to more education leaders than any other organization. NCEE’s dedicated, diverse, and experienced staff are working with teachers, school leaders, district leadership teams, and state policy makers to create a new system of education and return the U.S. to the top of the world education ranks.

As we kick off Thanksgiving week, I wanted to express my gratitude to the National Center on Education and the Economy and Kaizenvest (Nish Shetty, Stacy Galiatsos, Leah Moschella, Vicki Phillips, Sandeep A.) for including Prof Jim Inc. in their inaugural EdTech venture cohort this fall. We capped off 12 weeks of networking, pitch refinement, sessions, and discussions with K-12 leaders with a demo day last Friday at NCEE's DC office. Some key takeaways from the featured speakers: - Jason Palmer shared "the #1 opportunity in EdTech is AI, 3/4 of all investments in the sector are going to AI-powered companies" and "educators and administrators are innovating like crazy, this is the best time to partner with intrapreneurial?educators". - Chris Chism believes "AI will change everything we do in schools, and it should”. Chris has led dozens of trainings for schools, government, and companies on how to safely leverage AI to scale their capacity. Chris is truly leading the way on AI adoption in K-12. Shoutout to other featured speakers and startup leaders for sharing their approaches to addressing the most pressing challenges for learners and educators: Siya Raj Purohit, Emma Park, Juliana Guaqueta Ospina, Stephen Dalla Betta, Aatash Parikh, Monica Yupa, ??Dora Palfi, Aaron Wertman, Amrutha Vasan.

Dismantling Barriers in K-12 Education Since 2004 | Florida State Director | National Center on Education and the Economy ??
We often ask our teachers this question: "How deep are you taking your students in their learning?" But are we asking the same question to district leadership? How deep is the professional learning you are providing for your teachers and leaders? I was sitting in on our National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) work in MARION COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS. I snapped this photo during the break and reflected on that question. The leaders in Marion Co. are being guided through deep learning in their partnership with the National Center on Education and the Economy. You can't fake this. These leaders dig into the research and pour their context into the learning through their reading, analysis, and discourse. Watching it - was a sight to behold. These leaders are talking about how they can take the depth of their learning and turn it into action in their schools - for their teachers - to impact every student. How deep is your professional learning? Let's talk about it. Drop me a DM, or email me at [email protected]. The work is too important not to.

What a day at the National Center on Education and the Economy x Kaizenvest EdTech Demo Day! One theme resonated throughout the day: ?? "What is your thesis of change?" ?? Jason Palmer predicted that in 20 years, 90% of young learners will choose short courses with credentials over degrees. Universities won’t disappear—they’ll need to adapt with workforce-connected, credential-based programs. ?? Siya Raj Purohit shared OpenAI's vision of "AI Native Universities," spanning three levels: class, department, and organization. Students and staff today essentially have a 24/7 hyper-intelligent assistant at their fingertips. ?? (Also, fun fact! The most common time college students use ChatGPT is between 12:00-3:00 am. That tracks. ??) Juliana Guaqueta Ospina explained that when evaluating EdTech investments for IFC - International Finance Corporation, she focuses on understanding a startup's "thesis of change." What measurable impact or outcomes will this solution provide? It’s a simple yet profound lens for assessing value. ?? Chris Chism inspired the audience with his perspective on AI in K-12 education. For example, AI tools empower high school students to write more, not less. Instead of one essay every 8 days (to allow for teacher reviews), students can now write 3 essays per week with ChatGPT as a learning companion—not a ghostwriter. Time regained is opportunity created. ? Emma Park from JPMorganChase gave practical advice for EdTech entrepreneurs: investors look for evidence of student outcomes, business viability, scalability, and a clear exit strategy tied to the “buyer universe.” Dream big, but back it up with data and a plan. ?? Congrats to YaizY, Prof Jim Inc., Inkwire, Schoolytics, Inspirit, and imagi for their exceptional pitches and to the panelists for wowing the audience. ?? What’s your thesis of change? ??
On Friday I attended the National Center on Education and the Economy + Kaizenvest EdTech demo day here in DC! The pitching companies are all working on critical problems in education, and I left feeling hopeful for the future! Prof Jim Inc. - Turning text content into interactive video + instructor avatars. Great presentation Kelly King! YaizY - Career education + credentials for k12 students and beyond. Nice to meet you Stephen Dalla Betta :) imagi - Teaching kids to code through play. ??Dora Palfi Schoolytics - Helping k12 schools turn their data across platforms into insights accessible in one place. Aaron Wertman Inkwire - Easily create project-based learning experiences to improve student engagement and outcomes. Aatash Parikh and Monica Yupa Inspirit - A marketplace connecting VR trainings and certifications with learners in K12 and beyond. Amrutha Vasan Big thank you to the organizers Nish Shetty, Vicki Phillips, Stacy Galiatsos and to the panelists/judges: Jason Palmer, Emma Park, Juliana Guaqueta Ospina, Siya Raj Purohit, Chris Chism
