关于我们
The mission of the National Center for Victims of Crime is to forge a national commitment to help victims of crime rebuild their lives. We are dedicated to serving individuals, families, and communities harmed by crime. The National Center for Victims of Crime is a nonprofit organization that advocates for victims' rights, trains professionals who work with victims, and serves as a trusted source of information on victims' issues. After more than 25 years, we remain the most comprehensive national resource committed to advancing victims' rights and helping victims of crime rebuild their lives. The National Center is, at its core, an advocacy organization committed to -- and working on behalf of -- crime victims and their families. Rather than focus the entire organization's work on one type of crime or victim, the National Center addresses all types of crime.

?? We’re happy to see *bipartisan* legislation advancing the rights of crime victims. ?? U.S. Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) and Burgess Owens (R-UT) introduced the Courtney Wild Reinforcing Crime Victims’ Rights Act to ensure that victims are treated with dignity and receive vital support. ? Sparked by the lawsuit of Courtney Wild, a victim of Jeffrey Epstein, this legislation empowers the attorney general to implement reforms ensuring that all survivors are afforded their rights under the Crime Victims' Rights Act — including being informed of plea deals and pretrial agreements. It ensures accountability and justice by requiring courts to act if victims' rights are violated. ?? “This crucial act expands the Violence Against Women Act and the Victims of Crime Act in protecting victims’ dignity, not only by ensuring that crime victims’ rights are enforced, but also by providing accountability and remedies when those rights are violated,” said National Center for Victims of Crime Executive Director Renée Williams. “We thank Rep. Schulz and Rep. Owens for their work on this crucial bill, and we commit to advocating for and serving victims across the nation. Only when victims’ rights are automatic and unquestioned will our victory be achieved.”

? Once again, gun violence in the United States has taken people from their loved ones forever, left many others injured, and shattered a community. ? As always, we stand with all victims of crime, including those slain or wounded in acts of gun violence. We extend our deepest condolences to the survivors of Saturday’s mass shooting in Alabama, the family members and friends of victims, and the entire Birmingham community. ? Gun violence is unacceptable and remains the one of the most urgent health concerns in the U.S. today. It is especially appalling when bystanders are caught in the fray. ?? We urge anyone affected by the shooting in the Five Points South District to seek help and support. Our VictimConnect Resource Center offers free, confidential support to victims and survivors of all types of crime. Visit victimconnect.org to find resources and connect with trained, compassionate specialists.

?? We’re just four days away from this amazing keynote panel at NTI! Learn more and RSVP at victimsofcrime.org/NTI today. ?? Did you know survivors of human trafficking are overrepresented in jails and prisons? They’re frequently charged with crimes instead for being given services that can help them with their victimization and trauma. ?? We’re looking forward to discussing how trafficking survivors become involved in the criminal justice system and how advocates can best serve them. Special thanks to our amazing panelists and lived-experience experts James Dold of Human Rights for Kids, Tanisha Murden of Women Involved in Re-Entry Efforts, and Elizabeth Quiroz of Redemption House of the Bay Area — plus moderator Anne LaFrinier-Richie of Someplace Safe.
