Congratulations to the Denver START team on earning their START program certification! "I am extremely proud of the entire Denver START team, and especially Mariam Alami, who took over as Program Director just eight months ago and did an amazing job of pulling everything together to get the team across the finish line," says Jodi K. Dooling-Litfin, Rocky Mountain Human Services Deputy Program Officer. "It has been a dream of mine for several years to bring a START program to Denver, and it is so gratifying to see that come to fruition, and be able to support our community in this way. And I would add that the NCSS team has been incredible to work with and we have all learned so much from them." NCSS staff provide both in-person and virtual support to START teams in all phases of development across the country. START teams work to improve the lives of people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health needs (IDD-MH) as well as their families or caregivers in their communities. Certification means that START teams provide full crisis prevention and intervention services with fidelity to the national START Model. Come together for Californians with disabilities. The recent LA Fires have tragically affected over 43,000 people with disabilities in the Greater Los Angeles area. Over?1,460 have been evacuated, and over 200 homes of people with I/DD have been destroyed. Sadly, we also lost one person with I/DD and his father. Together, National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities and the Colin Farrell Foundation are partnering to collect essential supplies like air purifiers, sensory items, diapers, cleaning wipes, and menstrual products through the NACDD & Colin Farrell Foundation Amazon Wishlist. The supplies will be sent directly to the California State Council on Developmental Disabilities which will distribute the supplies through its Los Angeles office distribution network. To donate, click here: https://a.co/iFYpwSP To learn more, visit: https://lnkd.in/eXmDFNpS Please note that no cash donations will be accepted. Donations will only be accepted through the Amazon Wishlist provided. #LAFires #DisabilityCommunity #Support
