This week, we are #thankful for you, our community, for allowing us the opportunity to continue our outreach. We thrive to “help one more person” and we could not do that without your support. https://lnkd.in/eqP73ZgP #celiac #celiacdisease #glutenfree #community

We offer: * Three issues a year of Gluten-Free Nation, our full-color print magazine * An e-newsletter, NCA News, with items too important to wait, goes out monthly * We host a celiac conference in partnership with the celiac centers at MassGeneral Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and the Celiac Program at Harvard Medical School * We have a formalized board of directors, and an actively engaged board of advisors and almost 40 active volunteers. NCA has become the recognized education and advocacy group for people with celiac disease and other gluten-related disorders. Our Practices We educate, advocate and raise awareness of celiac disease and gluten intolerance. We foster a sense of community, belonging and camaraderie. We keep a close affiliation with a core of expert gastroenterologists and nutritionists. We provide empowerment to live with a chronic disease and share a positive outlook as ambassadors of the disease. We offer membership, the dues of which support the celiac and gluten free community.

While the criteria for diagnosing celiac disease are well defined, there is a surprising lack of specific “best practice” guidelines for monitoring patients with established celiac disease. Register now at https://lnkd.in/ehKPND4A! Luca Elli, MD, Chief of the Center for the Prevention and Diagnosis of Celiac Disease, Milan, Italy, and lead author of the recently developed evidence-based monitoring guidelines, and Maureen Leonard, MD, Clinical Director of the Center for Celiac Research and Treatment at Mass General for Children, will outline the current treatment approach for both pediatrics and adults and shed light on what still remains to be understood. Anne R. Lee, EdD, RD, LDN, lead author of a recently published article on nutrition assessment of the patient with celiac disease, will share how to assess and monitor adherence to the gluten-free diet for the best possible health outcome. Ciaran Kelly, MD, Medical Director of the Celiac Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, will serve as moderator for the seminar. Chris Rich, executive director of the National Celiac Association, will open and close the webinar. A Q&A session will follow the presentations; please submit general questions when you register or during the webinar on the Zoom platform. Continuing Education Units (CEUs): This course (220323-RSS) is approved by the Boston Children’s Hospital’s Continuing Education Department for 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ? for physicians, 1.25 contact hours for nurses, 1.25 ACE CE continuing education credits for social workers, and 1.25 CEUs for Registered Dietitians. Instructions for claiming credits will be made available during the webinar and transcripts will be available within 30 days,

Our focus at the National Celiac Association is on our community and how we can come together to improve the continuum of care for individuals and families with celiac disease. The city of @Nashville is a wonderful example of what the community can do when working together. From the largest celiac center in the Southeast at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, to our NCA Tennessee chapter and ROCK groups, to facilities such as The Store who help with individuals facing food insecurity, we are committed to helping everyone on their celiac journey. You can help the National Celiac Association strengthen and expand our community support for just $10/month. Go to https://lnkd.in/emWs6S4H to learn more. #community #nashville #celiac #glutenfree

What a wonderful weekend in Colorado connecting with the caring people who are an integral part of our celiac and gluten-free community! Thank you to everyone who came out to our NCA Denver Chapter’s Family Fun Festival on Saturday. A special thank you to our fabulous volunteers who made an event such as this possible. I also had a blast attending a Happy Hour at our sponsor, Holidaily Brewing Company, and had an inspiring meeting with an up-and-comer in the gluten-free industry, GoodLove Foods. These companies are comprised of people who are making a difference and it was my privilege to spend some time with them. If you want to learn more about how your company can partner with NCA to have a positive impact in your community, contact me directly at [email protected]. #celiac #glutenfree #strongertogether #community

A big thank you to everyone for your generosity. Thanks to our community coming together we will be able to get over $10k worth of gluten-free food to a pantry serving Helene-impacted Boone, NC. But the work doesn’t stop here. Please continue to support our work helping the most vulnerable in our community access safe foods.

Hurricane Helene’s massive destruction across the Southeast has left hundreds of thousands of people relying on food distribution and other emergency services. Members of the celiac and gluten free community are especially vulnerable during times of crisis. That’s why our Feeding Gluten Free program is here. Yesterday we shared that we were able to identify Hunger & Health Coalition, Inc. - a food pantry that works with RDs in Boone, NC. We confirmed that there are passable roads in for delivery, and through our Feeding Gluten Free program we were able to purchase lots of gluten free foods for their patrons. This post received unbelievable support (thank you!) so we have decided to do a quick fundraiser. 100% of donations that we receive on this and related posts by the end of the day Friday (10/4) will be used to get more GF food for Hunger & Health Coalition. The best way to donate to us is on fb because it's easily trackable: https://lnkd.in/e3fqhqGV If you don't have Facebook you can donate through our homepage, but please let us know you did so so that we can include it in the purchase. https://lnkd.in/eqP73ZgP We are grateful to be able to help in times when we are needed most.
