Did you know Mattie Della Shaw Baker, the mother of legendary singer, songwriter, producer, musician and actor Prince, was a social worker? Baker earned her MSW from the University of Minnesota and was a Minneapolis school social worker for more than 20 years. A former jazz singer, she encouraged her son's musical talents. "He could hear music even from a very early age," she said. Read about his parents in People Magazine: https://lnkd.in/e_HB39pM

One factor contributing to rising levels of depression and anxiety is social media. In fact, the U.S. Surgeon General issued a warning in May about the ill effects social media may be having on our nation’s youth, making them more vulnerable to anxiety and depression. School social workers are poised to offer advice to parents, students, and the news media on how families can help their children avoid the pitfalls of social media. Learn how you can help families from #NASW and our partner the School Social Work Association of America and Children and Screens: https://buff.ly/3BuU5OZ
