At Justworks, it's a source of great pride to be able to make sure small business voices are heard in Washington, D.C. I recently had the privilege of bringing a group of seven incredible customers to meet with lawmakers in an effort to unlock Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) funds owed to them. It’s hard to believe, but some have been waiting years for relief that’s seemingly stuck in IRS processing. In meetings on Capitol Hill, our customers took center stage and shared their stories, emphasizing how the continued delays in receiving the ERTC funds were impacting their ability to plan for the future, survive, and compete. Fortunately, we found many lawmakers receptive to our cause. At NAPEO - The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations, clearing the ERTC backlog is one of the top issues we’re focused on. And same at Justworks, where we have close to 1,000 customers still waiting for the funds from the IRS. These are small businesses that stepped up during the pandemic and did their part to keep Americans employed during a challenging time. I’m optimistic about the impact of our recent meetings and the path ahead. Just recently, the IRS announced that it is accelerating work on 400,000 ERTC claims worth about $10 billion. ICYMI, our latest white paper is out now! This data is an update of some of our earliest research comparing the business performance of PEO clients vs. non-PEO clients. It shows that PEO clients have a growth rate that is more than twice as high, employee turnover that is 12 percent lower, and a significantly higher survival rate than businesses that do not use a PEO. All in all, it proves what we already knew: Partnering with a PEO helps build stable, robust businesses that are better positioned for long-term success.
