As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month, NPWH is pleased to recognize Maria Teresa Gilman, APRN, MSN, BSN, White Feather. After working in labor and delivery for several years, she decided to pursue further training, earning her MSN in 2001. She is an APRN on staff at East Bay Community Action Center, an FQHC in Newport, RI. Her heritage plays a significant role in her life. "As a Native American elder, I continue to support my Tribal family at social gatherings, our annual pow wow and culture week in August," she said. "We are honoring the path of our ancestors."
