Patients Before Profits: Elevating Safety and Standards for Medical Device Representatives with Certification

关于我们

Unmet Need in Medical Device Representative Certification In today's healthcare landscape, hospitals contract non-hospital employees known as Medical Device Representatives (MDRs) to set up and attend surgical procedures. Despite their significant role, there is no mandatory certification for MDRs, posing risks to patient safety and surgical integrity. Currently, there are no comprehensive guidelines or standards governing MDRs' activities during surgical cases. NAMDR has written 44 guidelines for Hospital policy updates with a requirement of registration REP? (Registered Essential Person) and CMDR or Certified Medical Device Representative. Current Standards and Their Limitations Healthcare organizations have policies regarding MDRs, who are recognized as non-hospital employees. The ANSI/NEMA SC 1-2020 standard is the primary guideline for vendor credentialing, outlining access requirements for Tier 1, 2, and 3 locations. MDRs, given their specialized functions, are permitted access to Tier 3, allowing entry into sterile areas within healthcare facilities. However, this standard focuses solely on vendor access and does not address specific guidelines for MDRs in their surgical roles, including case setup, attendance, and restocking for loaner or consignment surgeries. This regulatory gap underscores a critical unmet need identified by the National Association of Medical Device Representatives (NAMDR), particularly concerning patient safety. Without standardized certification, the quality and safety of surgical procedures involving MDRs can be compromised. Ensuring MDRs are properly trained and certified is essential to maintaining surgical integrity and patient safety, aligning with NAMDR's commitment to prioritizing patients before profits.

I'm a very experienced med device sales pro. If you're not, then I might be able to help....

The bouffant. A symbol of cleanliness....of hope.... Could remind you med rep types of the operating room or of sterile processing....or maybe it even reminds you of the birth of your child... A lot of times you can wear the blue ones and blend in with the staff...but sometimes us med device folks are forced to wear those red ones, you know, so we can be spotted sneaking around sterile storage or posting up next to a sink. Bouffant. A French word that originally meant "swelling"....and doesn't my head swell with confidence the second I throw that sexy cap on! The bouffant is beautiful yet hideous....lightweight yet suffocating.... Its life is very short but its positive impact can be felt for years... Job well done, bouffant. Keep up the great work. Don't continue to be anything but yourself. ????????

  • Medical Device Representatives perform essential duties that go well beyond just selling instruments and implants to hospitals. However, their critical contributions, especially in surgical case setup and management, are often overlooked and not clearly defined by organizations like AORN, AMA, ACS, and The Joint Commission. NAMDR is committed to addressing this gap by highlighting the crucial role these representatives play in ensuring the success and safety of surgical procedures. Our goal is to collaborate with these leading organizations to enhance safety standards in surgical case setup. #hospital #Healthcare #PatientSafety #publichealth #supplychain #aorn #ashrm #jointcommission #hspa #fightdirty

  • Yes it is cool to wear scrubs but…… Hospitals provide personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure the safety of the surgical team—and, by extension, the safety of the patients they care for. This is why hospital scrubs and other PPE should never be worn outside the facility or when traveling between different hospitals. It’s not just a matter of patient safety; it’s also about protecting the public from cross-contamination. To maintain these high standards, it’s crucial that we have clear guidelines and universal standards. These help everyone understand their roles and responsibilities, particularly for those who are not direct hospital employees, like medical device representatives. As the only ansi educational program with a certificate to the ANSI/Nema sc 1-2020. This standard addresses this topic for medical device reps. Disposable scrubs offer a patent safe and reps safe solution and are within the ANSI/NEMA Standard. This is an option for Hospital Vendors (non-hospital employees). That’s why access is often “by invitation only.” With clear protocols in place, we can ensure that the safety of everyone—patients, healthcare workers, and the public—is prioritized. Does your hospital require certified medical device reps. Lean more at www.namdr.com #hospital #Healthcare #PatientSafety #publichealth #supplychain #aorn #ashrm #hspa #repscrubs

Take time to empower improvement. National Time Out Day (June 12) is critically important for OR nurses for a few key reasons: 1?? Prevents Surgical Errors: The "Time Out" is a standardized safety protocol where the entire surgical team pauses before the procedure to verify crucial information. 2?? Empowers Nurses to Speak Up: The Time Out protocol creates a space where any team member, including nurses, can voice concerns if something seems amiss. 3?? Strengthens Team Communication: A successful Time Out requires clear communication from all team members – surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists. 4?? Raises Awareness of Patient Safety: National Time Out Day can motivate nurses and other healthcare professionals to stay vigilant and prioritize safety measures. Get AORN's surgical checklist, The Joint Commission’s Universal Protocol, and so many resources, as well as a poster and a cake topper: https://lnkd.in/gM3CHFgU. Special thanks to Ansell, proud sponsor of AORN's National Time Out Day. Special thanks to Joint Commission for the amazing partnership. #ORNurse #Nursing #Nurses #NurseLife #Nurse #Perioperative
